FAQ for Online Payments by Credit Card/e-Check

The Treasurer’s Office believes it is important to offer the convenience of making payments online. In order to control costs and to insure compliance with new Federal Regulations, the Treasurer’s office uses Govolution as the third party processor.

  • The processor, Govolution, charges a convenience fee of 2.50% of the payment amount for processing your credit card payment online, or, Visa debit cards are charged a flat fee of $3.00.
  • e-Check transactions will be charged a flat fee of $1.50.
  • None of the fees are retained by Douglas County.

Why pay my property taxes, assessments or utilities online?

  • It’s fast, convenient and can save time, money and energy.
  • It allows payments from anywhere, anytime; and can help meet deadlines.
  • You get an immediate receipt.
  • No need to visit a county office.

What can I pay with a Credit Card or an e-Check?

Douglas County real property taxes, personal property taxes, assessments and utilities can be paid.

How do I pay County bills online?

To pay by credit card, you will be prompted for the following information:

  • Parcel or account ownership information (You will be prompted to input or search by name or property address through the property tax database).
  • The payment amount.
  • Credit card number (Visa, Discover, and MasterCard are accepted).
  • Fee and payment confirmation.

To pay by e-Check, you will be prompted for the following information:

  • Parcel or account ownership information (You will be prompted to input or search by name or property address through the property tax database.)
  • The payment amount.
  • Your bank’s ABA routing number.
  • Your checking account number.
  • Fee and payment confirmation.

Is my bank account information safe and my privacy secure?

Information provided through this website for processing your transaction will not be shared with, or sold to, any party that is not part of the transaction. All information is encrypted for secure transactions.

How many of my property tax accounts can I pay at once?

We can process only one account at a time.

Who do I contact with questions about this site?

The site has comment boxes so questions can be answered by e-mail the next working day. The Treasurer’s Office phone number is 775-782-9018 and the direct email address is treasurer@co.douglas.nv.us.

What are the browser requirements to pay property taxes by e-Check?

Your browser must support 128-bit encryption. If you use Microsoft Internet Explorer, your browser should support this encryption, as does the latest versions of Mozilla Firefox and Safari.

Can I pay someone else’s property taxes with my credit card or an e-Check on my account?

Yes.

What date and time will be shown as the date of payment?

The date and time the transaction is entered is shown as the date/time of payment. If you provide an e-mail address, a transaction copy receipt will automatically be sent to that e-mail address.

What do I use as a receipt?

Your electronic transaction copy receipt will indicate the account number,  payment amount, and date paid. There will also be an email receipt sent to the email address you provide.

How long before I can check my account online and see that my bill is paid?

We expect to post your payment online within 2 working days.

Can I pay delinquent taxes online with an e-Check?

Yes. But you must pay your entire balance — delinquent and current. Separate payments will not be accepted.

Can I reverse the payment from my bank account?

No. Once submitted, the payment cannot be reversed. Contact our office at 775-782-9018 to make arrangements for a refund if necessary.

What if the e-Check payment does not clear my account?

If the payment is rejected by your financial institution because of insufficient funds, there will be a charge of $25.
