Primary Election
Please Note: Closed Primary Election
NRS 293.310 states that ballots must be prepared separately for each major political party, with only voters affiliated with that party eligible to vote in its primary. Voters must have party affiliation to cast a ballot for that party in a primary election.
In practice, this means registered Democrats vote in the Democratic primary, registered Republicans vote in the Republican primary, and voters who are registered as nonpartisan or with another affiliation are not able to vote in other party primaries.
The Sample Ballot contains all candidates for each primary, but your Official Election Ballot will only contain your registered parties candidates.
